New Artwork - Winter 2023
BUCKEROO - 25" x 10" - Acrylic on Doug Fir panel - My own take on a Duke Beardsley composition.
WEATHERED - 12" x 12" - Acrylic on canvas.
BIG NOSE - 12" x 12" - Acrylic on canvas.
Loose strokes and bold colors make the most sense to me. Keep the paint goppy. Work quick and spare like Cormac.
Just a wonderful composition. Reminds me alot of 'Buckaroo Team' and others from the Great Basin series by the king of cowboy watercolor William Matthews. Didn't put much forethought into this one. Just dove in with black, white, and red. This wood panel is from the basement - a vertical grain fir glue up recycled from some abandoned woodworking project. Wash coat in orange. Apologies for the background mess. My easel sits in the middle of my upstairs studio-office amidst piles of motorcycle gear, art supplies, geologic maps, tools, and academic journal articles.
RED STRIPE BLANKET - 16" x 20" - Acrylic on canvas - A Lon Megargee composition.
THE GUITAR MAKER - 12" x 12" - Acrylic on canvas - A Susan Melrath composition.
CIRCLES - Acrylic on canvas - A Jose Trujillo(?) composition.
BUCKING HORSE BOOTS - 16" x 20" - Acrylic on canvas.
BULLRIDER BOOTS - 16" x 20" - Acrylic on canvas.
Still working on this one. A Neito composition.
BUFFALO STRIPE - 16" x 20" - Acrylic on canvas (Sam and Chris Hescock Collection)
Things piling up in the corner.
Jon Flaming's work is just awesome. I had to try my hand at a few of his classic figures. Not sure if the heavy brush strokes improve on the original, but I like them. Flaming is a Texas artist who sells his work in major galleries.
Half man, half cow, half cigarette.
This is probably one of Flaming's best. A three-colored triangle with one eye and a flat brim. Saint No might even approve.
RANCHO RONAN - 12" x 9" - Acrylic on canvas. Credit to Jon Flaming.
