Bird Ridge

The relentless ascent up Bird Ridge to the peak (2.5 miles, 3400' elevation gain) is worth every step. The trailhead is a 20 minute drive south of Anchorage in Chugach State Park. Expansive views over Turnagain Arm and the mountains of the northernmost Kenai Peninsula.
