Braced for the Pour
One rented trailer plus two trips to Wasilla equals progress. After some confusion with the building supplier, we were able to track down a couple piles of the bracing at some random site with our new buddy, Jason. We suspect the piles had been sitting there for 2 years. The bracket system consists of wide galvanized vertical channel, diagonal steel turnbuckles, scaffold members, a bucket of purpose-built steel clips, and Tapcon anchors. Alan and I were able to put up the 34 brackets in one afternoon (1pm to 5pm). We did some preliminary straightening of the walls and called it a day before the heavy rain set in. The next morning we rigged up the scaffolding, completed a few odds and ends, and ordered the concrete. We were surprised how smoothly it all went.
