Watercolor

Being bored and without internet access for long enough drives me to the fridge, for beer, or to the big flat box of art supplies, to create something.

We have been living out of a suitcase for about 3 months now (May 31-Aug 27) - traveling the Al-Can Hwy, subsisting in a rental apartment, and waiting for the movers in our new house. Here's a few things that I have painted while waiting. Some were old paintings that I finished. I photographed them unceremoniously on the carpet by the front window.

I am not precious about painting. A pencil, a bucket of water, cheap 140-lb paper, a staple gun, a piece of 3/4" plywood, one round acrylic #10 brush, paper towels, a razor blade, Kosher salt sometimes, and tubes of Paynes Gray, Burnt Sienna, Cerulean Blue, Prussian Blue, Cadmium Red, and Cadmium Yellow. One painting takes 2 hours.

I've long admired works by Andrew Wyeth, NC Wyeth, Winslow Homer, William Matthews, Ansel Adams, James Prosek, AD Maddox, and the Group of Seven. Subjects are part of, but subordinate to, the landscape.
