The Bostitch RN46-1 roofing nailer is a sweet tool. With it, I was able to put down 32 bundles of shingles and complete the garage roof in a day. I hit my layout lines, snapped at 2-foot intervals, pretty much right on the money the whole way. Nice to have it done. So I applied for a personalized Alaska license plate that reads "I Make". If no one else has claimed it yet, then I will become one of 50 members in this club started by club founder and uber-YouTuber, Jimmy DiResta. He owns the New York "I Make" plate. Wish me luck! According to the DMV, it looks like I was successful! I went with the blue theme instead of the classic yellow. 10 days later, they showed up.
For the life of me, I can't name two politicians that can actually articulate a Conservative message. AM talk radio has a couple who do it fairly well, but those guys can get annoying pretty quick. Print media is lousy with Conservatives, but you really have to dig to find the good stuff. Thomas Sowell gets it right. Otherwise, few Conservative writers/thinkers/opinionmakers are succinct enough or witty enough or attractive enough or are under 65. George Will is a dork. David

The golden hour is the time when the Wise Alaskan grabs a square shovel and makes three downhill passes to form a channel through the still-soft slush. Form your channel while the getting is good. They key is to form a distinct cut bank on at least one side. These little levees will confine tomorrow's runoff long i
The Chugach Electric truck showed up right on time. Cutting the power service lines at the house (old meter base location). Shortly after this photo was taken, both guys were back on the ground. The guy on the left smashed the guy on the right's foot under the hydraulic stabilizer on the truck, which put him out of commission for the rest of the day. They also forgot wedge clamps needed to secure the line to the tower and had to call for backup. Then they guy complained about
The Woodsman is an iconic figure of Western culture. Images of men wielding axes are common to historical museums and children's fairy tales (i.e., Paul Bunyan), but the Woodsman appeals to a wider audience. The Woodsman is the symbol of optimistic homesteaders, the opening frontier, man taming wilderness, the loss of the frontier, the loss of native cultures, and the rise of environmentalism. He anchors New Deal socialist art of the WPA in 1930's America and drove fashion tr
